I used an 'erase/replace' animation technique when making my first animated short, The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat. The film was drawn entirely in charcoal on only three sheets of A1 paper, which were pinned to the wall in a make-shift shooting space. Once the animation was complete, and after all the charcoal was erased from the A1 sheets, only ghost images and traces of the animation process were left behind.
